England win home international on the River Tees Full Results

Match Report Rivers International
River Tees England, 2nd July 2010
By Mike Tinnion
England Manager, Hardy Grays

In a year of drought stricken rivers, The Tees at Middleton proved to be a Fantastic Venue for the 2010 Rivers International. Compensation water kept all five beats fishable and a 9” lift of water on the match day made things “interesting” to say the least! The four countries caught and returned a total of 310 trout over the four ninety minute sessions,
At the end of the day Hardy /Greys Team England were emphatic winners with 125 Trout, in a fantastic overall team performance every team member had at least two first places out of a possible four. And Individual winner Simon Robinson had four 1sts to win him the Moc Morgan Trophy for the 2nd time. With a total mix of up to six different methods covering a lot of water quick was the key to success, along with, the indispensable reserve Bernie Mayer, looking for unfished water and rising fish for the bank. Against a very strong field of Anglers from the other 3 nations Hardy/Greys Team England took the 1st 4 individual placings in what has been dubbed the ‘Friendly International’.

Contrary to rumour the Loch style National is being held on Chew.

It is understood that many anglers have heard rumours that it is to be otherwise.

At this time the fishery is taking bookings for practice boats.

There have been problems at the fishery which are being monitored by the water authority and management.  Should this affect the ability of the venue to hold a fair final then the Confederation will be informed in good time.

There are contingencies in place should the situation change.  Anglers will be informed with ample time to arrange accommodation and practice at the alternative venue which will be Grafham.

John Mees who is organising the event is in communication with Bob Handford at the fishery.

It is an unfortunate sign of the times that fisheries are experiencing these problems. The Confederation must support the fisheries but also the anglers to ensure that we have a fair competition.

Chairman
